Looking after your eyes, feet and kidneys

The yearly checks that protect you, and daily foot care.

Draft · awaiting clinician review

Eyes

Have a retinal eye screening every year. Diabetic eye disease often has no early symptoms, and early treatment protects your sight. DAQIQ researchers develop AI that helps grade retinal images.

Feet

  • Check your feet every day for cuts, blisters or redness.
  • Do not walk barefoot, especially on hot floors or sand.
  • Wear well-fitting shoes and moisturise dry skin, but not between the toes.
  • See your clinician about any wound that does not start healing within a few days.

Kidneys

A yearly urine test (ACR) and blood test check your kidneys. Good blood pressure and blood sugar control protect them.
