What is diabetes distress?

Managing diabetes every day can feel tiring, frustrating or worrying. This is called diabetes distress. It is very common, and it can make self-care harder.

Signs

  • Feeling overwhelmed by everything you have to do
  • Worrying about complications
  • Feeling alone or judged
  • Avoiding checks or appointments

What helps

  • Tell your care team how you feel; they can help adjust your plan.
  • Share some of the load with family or friends.
  • Set one small, realistic goal at a time.
  • Join an education course or support group, such as those run by the Qatar Diabetes Association.
